Modern Minimalist Como Loft Interior Design by JMA

Jacopo Mascheroni Architects have designed this modern minimalist como loft interior design located in Milan, Italy. This como loft was an old monastery which has been remodelled and converted into a residential complex, two adjacent units have been connected to form this duplex apartment. The use of white, the Canadian maple for the hardwood floors and the use of indirect lighting underneath the walls give the place and extent counteract the lack of windows.
The main idea of this como loft was to keep the shell intact, maintaining the entire length of the unit open and invading the space minimally. The result is the insertion of an enclosed box on one side containing a small bedroom and two bathrooms, which leaves to an open space the main functions of the home. The main entry to this modern minimalist como loft is a very small foyer which creates a sense of compression before entering the main gallery, where the living spaces, kitchen, dining and living, are separated from the master bedroom by a lacquered block.
The staircase is the characteristic element in the main space, which is an assembled steel beam with open treads made by a cantilever steel plate covered in wood. Glacier white Corian is used for counter tops and sinks in the kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms, for the bath-tub, showers and parts of the bathroom walls. The house is fully automated and is managed by a server located in the studio on the second level.

Modern Flow Apartments by BVN Architecture

Designed by BVN Architecture, an australia based architects firm, this modern white flow apartments located in an inner-suburban area that is experiencing considerable urban regeneration, the scheme has developed out of an in-depth analysis of local planning strategies and urban renewal policies being formalised and debated within Brisbane at present.

Flow Apartments involves 8 “terrace-style” houses (3 & 4 bedrooms over 2 storeys) to the riverfront boundary with a 7 storey apartment building located on the rear street boundary facing the river. A large open space that results between the buildings offers recreation spaces including reflection and swimming pools and large shaded lawn spaces.

The design is formed by a collection of sweeping and billowing forms with the apartments arranged for complete privacy, yet allowing full advantage to be taken of both the immediate and long distance views. The plan form also incorporates generous outdoor living areas and bedrooms to ensure the enjoyment and comfort of the outdoor sub-tropical lifestyle and enable 270 degree views throughout. The expansive views take in the Brisbane River, the mountains of the D’Aguilar and Taylor Ranges to the west and the skyline of the Brisbane CBD to the north-east.

The scheme’s architectural character draws on the “between wars”, West End apartment “Art Moderne”/”Art Deco” character and typology and is also derived from the streamlined, simple and functional curves of the modern and traditional river vessels; a recognisable and ingrained reference in a city defined by the strong meandering curves of its river.

Matsudo Mansion Minimalist Tokyo Apartment by Bakoko

A great interior design renovation and refurbishment has been created by people at BAKOKO, an international design studio based in Tokyo, Japan. The designers have transformed this small 400 sq. ft typical ‘mansion’ apartment on the outskirts of Tokyo into their new home.

The transformation of this typical ‘mansion’ apartment on the outskirts of Tokyo demonstrates the adaptability of Japan’s post-war housing stock for providing affordable accommodation to the next generation of city dwellers.

Guided by the idea of a clean, bright, modern home that serves as a place to work and a place to rest, Townsend and Ohtsuki from BAKOKO have created this modern-minimal flat with an optimum use of space. What makes the Matsudo mansion really unique are the small luxurious details – things such as the tatami mat rest area, the Hinoki wood decking in the bathroom and the kitchen’s overhead garden make this contemporary home stand out. Two of the central doors slide apart to reveal a hot pink desk as well as a full length mirror. The key to the live/work lifestyle is being able to shut one’s work away and out of sight at the end of a hectic day.

The tatami area is not only a space for meditation, occasional dining, and entertaining. Come bedtime, a futon can be unfolded from the closet, thus saving space. The illuminated box along one wall holds nighttime reading material and doubles as a reading light and bedside table. The timber ’sonoko’ (decking) and bathtub surround are made from Hinoki wood.

Internal partitions were demolished to to maximize light penetration and provide an open-plan living arrangement. Closets flanking the main space are concealed behind full-length sliding doors.

NYC Apartment Interior by Stefan Boublil

A newly finishes interior design project for an apartment in Manhattan, New York designed by creative director of The Apartment Creative Agency, Stefan Boublil.

Project description by Stefan Boublil

Combining 3 smaller apartments into one at one of new york city’s most coveted uptown addresses, we delivered a stunning new dwelling on the 61st floor of the metropolitan tower. Every single room is constructed so that the postcard view of central park is the star. With a built-in wraparound sofa, a secret door in the solid walnut library and distributed surround sound all over the home, this project is an ode to the 80s during which the building was erected.

Suited for a family of 4 with 2 children, the communal living spaces stands in between the master suite and the kids’ rooms, hidden behind the aforementioned trap door in the library, thereby providing a buffer of sight and sound.

The kitchen and dining area is the only ones wrapped in waxed concrete thereby giving it a theatrical feel, especially when see from the rest of the apartment which is clad in bleached pine and subdued colors.

I might describe the final result as having a monastery + cowboy ranch + 80s vibe…
